London Calling

I have found my new love, morning cars and coffees.
Written by Anthony Mason
I’m an early riser and quite often am out cleaning the car before 07:00 in the morning , I bought an AutoGlym pump up spray bottle to apply snow foam and foaming soap then it’s as easy as just a rinse off with the hose, dry and apply which ever coatings I can – pop the roof down then drive to a cars and coffee, spend a few hours chatting and drinking tea with likeminded folk. Then home for a relaxing afternoon of whatever bits need doing round the house.
I’ve as usual been particularly bad at documenting my outings for you lovely readers so I’ll try and sum up where I’ve been and how you can join at the next ones. Let’s see I’ve done the monthly CBS cars and coffee twice maybe three times; that’s the first Saturday of the month in Horningsea Cambridge. There’s all sorts of great cars – you’ll be chatting to an MX5 with a V8 or a Lotus 7 with a 700hp racing motorbike engine or a 3 month old Land Rover with 10,000 pounds of audio equipment in. And literally everything between.
The East Anglia region hosted an amazing morning at Duxford , it was wetter than an otters pocket when we arrived but dried up mid morning it was really nice to catch up with lots of familiar faces and see some beautiful cars , big thank you to George Champ for doing all the behind the scenes stuff so it was a seamless day. That and whilst it rained we got to look at all the vintage planes on display. I also met Christian the new South East region chair who I hope to do some joint meets and supporting with over the coming months.
Friends of the club ‘3nine7 detailing’ held its second cars and coffee at the Shuttleworth collection in Bedford. The 7th one they have done. The next one is going to be in September the dates vary , so look out on the London region Facebook page for more information.
On Saturday 9th August, I am hosting 40 cars (more if I can squeeze them on) at the Pistonheads Annual Service in Bicester. We were approached to have a club stand and it was too good an opportunity to miss! There were lots of emails and I’ve had to do risk assessments and legal forms. It’s been a lot – I’m just hoping that the day will be a huge success and we use it as a recruitment day as well as showcasing some of our members’ amazing cars. I’m planning on having a classic/M and members cars, would you have it organised or assume the mix is more interesting on the eye?
Our London region pub meet is doing wonders through the summer months. I always suggest people bring friends and neighbours and so we get quite a few new faces and new cars each month – if you are interested in joining us please make it soon before the winter months kick in. That being said, we have a small group that come rain or shine and work their way through the menu, having a catch up by the fire.
